Musta been about 15 years ago by now, but we had a huge, dark cloud come over our house. Nothing was really forecast, so we didn't think too much about it. My youngest was on the computer and the rest of us were in the house. All of the sudden there was a big boom and a bright flash of light inside the house. It was bright enough that all of us were seeing spots, just like getting a photo used to do to you. I ran around looking for the house to be on fire, but luckily nothing. Anyway, everything that we had plugged in was fried. Refrigerator, computer, chest freezer, lamps, TV, everything plugged in. We had our computer plugged into a surge suppressor that put a $50,000 guarantee on everything that was plugged into it, so I sent it the suppressor into the factory as a condition of the warranty. They sent it back saying it was fine. I called them and told them that the computer, printer, and monitor were all plugged in, but yet fried and they said that it was just static in the air that fried everything and their suppressor tested good. Right before they hung up on me, I told them that everything that was not plugged in was fine. Morale of the story: If they can get out of their warranty, they will. A little over a year ago, we also had our church get hit by lightning and it took out the sound system. The funny part of it all was that lightning hit a microphone that was in the middle of the church and followed it to the amp. You could clearly see the microphone and circuit board damage where it went into the amp. Glad you were able to get a replacement fridge so soon. Hopefully, the freezer/refrigerator shortage is over?
