I don't know about DEF in tractors but have a pickup using DEF that has been a problem. Have replaced DEF tank and heater (under warranty), heater alone once, DEF injector nozzle cleaned once, DEF injector nozzle replaced once, one (of four)exhaust gas temperature sensor replaced. For some reason when new the truck wasn't automatically regenerating so had to take it to the dealer or a repair shop for them to burn out the particulate filter(truck parked away from flammable material, runs at high idle, hot exhaust to burn out filter) at least four times. One repair that was done fixed that problem. The diesel pickup I had before DEF went over one hundred thousand miles with only one non- maintenance repair, that was the mass air sensor had to be replaced. That was why a bought a second one. Not real happy with this one.
