Well if ya want to call it a tractor , then a 1938-39 D 8 Cat . Not only drover it but rebuilt it from bare case and both blocks . It was a winter project the owner of the company gave me to keep me out of trouble while he was gone for the winter . It was his first brand new big Cat dozer he bought . He would leave every year before Thanks Giving to go to his winter home in southern Calf. and never come back till mid April . He told me he wanted it like new and everything to do the job with was in the parts room . SOOOOO with a little help from my boss on the hard stuff we Pushed it into the shop and started tearing it down to bare case , to do this we had to get the pony motor to start and run to start the diesel so we could power the big nuts off to remove the sprockets . Yep it kept me out of trouble . My boss put the paint to it once all together . All new bearings seals gkst. total engine rebuild on both rebuilt injection pump new injectors totally new under carriage with new pads , steering clutches and brake bands even new knobs on the levers even the electric starter and gen worked along with the three lights rebuilt the two spool winch it had as it was a cable blade . My boss and i dug out the old scraper pan that it use to pull and put new tire on it and painted it . If ya wanted a work out just spend. a day running it for 8 hours .
