Same story here! (hear?) I'm 48, have hearing aids for both ears, and they're a great help, but also a great pain. As a young boy I drove tractors with straight pipes all day long sometimes, then at night my ears rung for hours. Now I have ringing in the ears constantly, which is very annoying. Can't hear the birds chirping without hearing aids. Can't sing with hearing aids in, etc. etc. Wish I had known better when I was younger. As someone famous (I forgot who) once said "it's a shame that youth is wasted on the young".
