- AGCO has gone from $8 to $22 in the last 16 months. - Navistar has gone from $18 to $38 in the last 18 months. I missed the boat on both. I'm holding some Ford stock. Got my clock cleaned on it last year. Still holding it, waiting for it to turn around. Ford tends to return more than the S&P 500 over the long term, if you can stomach a highly cyclical stock. I've held it for ten years. Other than the recent problems as reflected in the stock price, it's returned pretty well for me. I do feel for CNH stockholders. That stock has tanked, and CNH may be forced to file for bankruptcy protection if they can't make a $1.7 billion debt payment in November. Small-cap index funds have been doing a little better of late ... I've got a little money in one, and it returned something like 7% last month. My S&P 500 index fund is running slightly in the red. As for Tractor Supply, they took over the local QFF and reopened it. They are using decidedly less floor space, and the selection of tractor parts, feed, etc. in our store is significantly less, but then this isn't a heavy farming area compared to others.
