In my state the most obvious reason is that farmers don't have to pay state sales tax on agricultural fuel which here is 17 1/2 cents a gallon. It is dyed and not to be used for on road vehicles. Check you state. You also don't have to fill it up and probably shouldn't unless you a big user since it doesn't help fuel any to set for along period. Just ask your local fram distributor what the minimum is and then make your decision. Paint it if your state law requires. If there is no requirement paint it green and label it. It will come in very handy. Good Luck........
