I live in Louisiana and use my MF 245 for bush hogging and logging. I have 25 acres of pasture and woods. Much of the woods is wetlands and I am constantly pulling out fallen logs to keep the land cleared. On more than several occasions I have gotten the tractor stuck in Louisiana mud up to the axels on all four wheels. I am thinking of putting a 12 volt electric winch on the front end to assist in these situations. I also do a lot of tree felling and it would be nice position the front end of the tractor to a tree then attach a line on the tree I want to fell and tension with the winch connected to a side snatch block on a third tree to get the object tree to fall more or less where I want (not on my barn.) I am looking to purchase a 10,000 # winch as my tractor weight is 4,250 lbs plus any implement I have attached at the time. I understand pulling it out of the mud will put quite an additional strain on the winch.
