White smoke, blue smoke or black smoke, pink smoke? If its blue smoke, then its probably oil burning - up cylinders or down valve guides. Black smoke will be too rich at idle. Lots of other pointers, - plug condition, crankcase pressure, compression test, how much oil you top up with, any water loss, etc. Might benefit from some hard work to un-glaze the bores and settle the rings in, if used only on light duties. Does it actually get hot enough when running normally? Is the crancase breather clear? Maybe could do with a set of rings, but once you get inside you would probably do a lot more. I would assess it a bit more and probably look forward to some years yet if it's only played with. Regards, RAB
