The AC model WD I am working on had set for mayby 25 years before I got it. There was pin holes in the oil pan from acid in the oil sitting for who knows how long. The oil had leaked out of these holes. Anyway, I cleaned it up good with solvent and welded the holes up with my welder which is just a Lincoln AC "buzz box". Worked fine, 3/32 rod at 40 or sometimes 60 amps. then I ground or filed the welds smooth and you can't tell there was any holes there. It just took careful welding, for me anyway, to get it done. Hot enough to weld good, stopping before I burned through. Don't know what sore of damage you are trying to repair, but this may help.
