International Cub 1974 12V System

Just given to me by my brother-in-law who says he's tired of trying to repair it. Has an electrical problem. I don't know didley about it. He says when he hits the starter button the entire electrical system gets red hot. I haven't found a direct short anywhere yet. Looking for any advice or manuals before I dig into it any further. Thanks in advance
