Rolled her, Safety equipment works, wear it, use

Here tonight with life and limbs intact after rolling an excavator greasy side up into the trench yesterday.
Even though I was tempted not to be bothered with the seat belt being how unhandy the Bobcat design is.
I was reaching in from the side, cleaning out last weeks new 5 foot deep water service trench going back to the shed/barn. The pipe failed to be delivered last week and the walls were collapsing in from 4+ inches of rain since it was dug.
The spot that let go looked pretty good compared to other spots previously cleaned out too.
It was a strange feeling knowing she was starting to go and swinging the boom for stability was too late. Made it side roll rather than a face plant however.
THERE IS NO D*MMED WAY YOU OR ANYONE CAN JUMP CLEAR OR HOLD YOURSELF IN THE SEAT during a roll. Wear the seat belt. The manufacture didn't spend the money to put it there without a reason.
Much to my amazent the engine was still running without the oil pressure idiot light coming on? Shut the engine off, got another backhoe tractor, opened up the side of the trench into a ramp and fished her out. Lots of Bruce County clay stuck to it but back digging within three hours. That included getting the backhoe tractor unstuck as well.
Put a leash on the Bobcat for the rest of the job. Tied off and tightened a heavy chain to a large tractor.
