A true mulching mower will up your horsepower requirements. They don't have a discharge chute so you are constantly"mulching" what you have already cut and blow it down into the lawn,not out the side.If the grass gets too high,they don't do a good job because they can't get rid of the clippings fast enough,and tend to ball up and leave skips. If you keep your lawn mowed regularly and don't try to cut 4" grass,or cut wet grass it will be OK. Otherwise stick with a regular finish mower.Kinda overrated in my opinion,I'd rather put up with an ocasional windrow rather than creep along listening to the tractor drag if the grass gets ahead of me.
