I live in south eastern Ontario Canada and there has been an increasing amount of daytime breakins as the local population out in the country has grown. It is kind of scary to see this going on you just hope it doesn't happen to you. I have always had somekind of dog and do think this helps. My German Shepherd pup 9 months old and about 85 pounds spends his time during the day in his pen or lose running around if somebody is outside to watch him. Now if everybody is gone away he goes in the house and spends night in the house. I would like to see a stranger come in even at his young age he is leary of strangers, with nobody home or somebody comming in at night I don't think they would get far. In Canada we have strict gun laws, I do have a couple but have the licence for them but they have to be locked in a case, have trigger locks, amunition locked seperate from guns. So if going to follow the law a gun is no protection in a hurry here but a good dog is the best defence. If a bad guy comes snooping around a house and hears a dog, or if has been watching houses to pick one to break into they will probably pass on tangling with a dog. In Canada judges are very soft on this usless garbage that go stealing, why not try working. Give them probation and let them do it all again. I probably would get a bigger fine and more probation if got caught without a gun locked up the way it is suppose to be. Don't think it matters if in USA or Canada crime is a growing problem and judges are getting softer got to be a way to change things, anybody got any ideas how?

Today's Featured Article - Gatherin of the Orange - by Rick Nikolich. In July of 1998 I was talking to fellow Allis Chalmers collector Mike Schilling about the annual "Gathering of The Orange" AC show coming up in August of 1999. He got this wild idea that we should get a convoy of AC tractors and drive them from Charlotte, Michigan 105 miles to LaGrange, Indiana. ... [Read Article]
