Around here it is almost impossible to buy a 'decent' farm. All the big spreads are being broken up into 5-20 acre baby farms (3 sales last week). Each one will get a big house and have to have an 8N with a finish mower. Demand seems higher than ever for older tractors. An immaculate IH 986 sold for $5900 with cab heat and air at one of the sales; an 8N with a bad engine brought $3000 and a rough JD 70 brought $5500. I think old iron is safe. Of course, as I say that I got a pile of old Farmall and Ford stuff that I reckon I'm either going to have to sell, melt, or pay for a divorce lawyer.
