Welding near a engine's electrical system?

I know that welding on a bigger machine with a generator or alternator is a bad idea, but what about small engines? I've got a self-propelled feedcart with a cracked motor mount I need to repair. I'll be using an arc welder. It has a 5.5 horsepower OHV Honda, a GX160 I think. The engine is about two years old. It dosen't have electic start or a charging system, but could the ignition system be damaged? I'm not sure if a small engine this new would have anything fancy in the ingition system that could get damaged?
