The compact Deere tractors of that era are rebadged Yanmars. Deere owns part of Yanmar but I assume a pile of Deere stock is held by the Japanese. The hydrostatic tractors of the time were the 755/855/955. The 1070 was an economy priced gear drive tractor. More efficient if used on steady speed heavy draft loads. Used prices for tractors small enough to park in a standard auto garage spot with a loader are out of sight. High demand from Market Farmers, hobby farmers, golf courses, plant nurseries, orchards and rural estates that require snow removal/large lawn cutting. Also explains why there are old pelters of small tractors 40-60 years old are still on the go. While the larger models of the same era were scrapped long ago. Little old 9N/2N/8N Fords, Fergusons etc still around everywhere.
