My wife traded her 94 intrepid with a 3.3 for an 04 intrepid with a 2.7 last august. The 94 had 190000 trouble free miles on the engine but the transmission went at around 120000. It ran flawlessly but she wanted something newer for her 17 mile drive to work. I haven"t driven the 04 much but the 2.7 reminds me of winding a smaller rubber band tighter to get the same power as a bigger rubber band that isn"t wound as tight. The 94 got 27 mpg and the 04, while still new gets around 22-23. I am not impressed with the new one! The old one didn"t have a bit of sludge problems but maybe it"s because it was always driven on long enough trips to warm it up well. We always use petroleum oil from good major brand sources.
