In my humble opinion,for a stock application,a 2 bolt main is fine.If you are building a hot rod or pulling heavy loads,the 4bolt is stronger.There are a lot of hot rodders running 2 bolt main blocks at 1 HP per cubic inch and not having any problems.GM themselves built some pretty hot engines with the 2 bolt block.The small block Chevy is a good tough engine and the 2 bolters are just fine.JMHO,Moline
