About a year ago I posted looking for information on the national corn picking contest that used to be held in the 50's and '60s. In October 1960, Presidential candidate John Kennedy spoke to about 70,000 farmers in Sioux Falls South Dakota at the NCPC. In 1964, there was one held in Adrian,MI. Besides regular pickers, picker-shellers started to make their debut in the contest. I have no exact info when these were no longer held, but I would guess by 1970 they were out of the picture as combines becane more popular. Any one here in attendance at either of the events or any other NCPC and can educate us about this part of our nation's agriculture past?
