1. I have 14 acres which I use to rent to a man who grew corn. This coming year he is not going to rent it so I am going to plant Tifton 44 Bermuda grass on it under the EQIP program. They will pay for 50% of the cost and it’s only for a one year contract. 2. Problem is I need to get the old corn stalks cut up, how is the best way to do this? I think I can get the past renter to disk it up and maybe get him to run a cultivator over it. Of course, he will charge me to do this; anyone have any ideas how much for a 14 acre flat area? I think this should make a good grass (sprig) bed for another man to plant the 40 bushels per acre. He charges $140/acre to furnish and plant the grass. In this area (SE North Carolina), EQIP pays $187.90 per acre for all work. He wants to plant it the first week of April. 3. Any thoughts?
