Ford came out with a free safety gas cap exchange offer in 1986 to make sure all the 1939-1982 Ford gas tractors get the new style large vented cap with spill prevention in a rollover, New Holland now continues to offer it also, take your current cap, the hours from the meter, the model# and the hand stamped serial number with a diamond at each end located at the top left front corner of the transmission housing straight below the air cleaner to your local New Holland dealer and they will give you the free safety cap with a long plastic neck and large vent holes in the top, if they are a new dealer and do not know anything about it tell them to refer to service bulletin 1993/10-T2 to get reimbursed from New Holland, keep the gas level below the bottom of the plastic neck of the new cap..
