I posted this question some time ago with respect to my specific tractor and got really no help. So will make it more general this time. My Diesel tractor, about 2 years ago, after about 25 years since new, reached the point where the clutch would just barely release when the pedal was depressed as far as it would go. External linkage adjustment did not help. It was dangerous. I did not have time to repair it myself, so I took it to reputable shop that once was dealer for that brand of tractor. They charged enough, but not gouging price. Told me that the pressure plate had loose actuating finger. Installed new clutch plate, old one about 50% worn, told me the release bearing was fine. Adjusted the pressure plate fingers. It worked really well. Now it is getting like before again- in just two years. Jerky when engaging the clutch. Have to split the tractor to access the pressure plate. Anyone ever experienced this problem? What about using Locktite or cotter pins on all locknuts to insure no loosening?
