Bradk, well I unplugged the coolant temp sensor and no change, not even a code(like you said). I ran a monitor test and it showed the coolant temp rising. I also swapped out the IAC with a known good one with no change, even left it unplugged to get a code, still no code. I'm still getting a 542 "Secondary circuit failure control module to ground" code after cleaning the grounds, that's still got me wondering. I found out all non-Calif Escorts have no egr valve. The fuel pressure regulator was good also. PCV checked out. Next move is NEW plug wires and maybe a compression test, it runs too good above 2000 rpms though. Did a resistance check on the coil and it passed. I'll let you know what happens, thanks once more for your help!!
