I have been working on a neighbors 4020 like this and I thought someone had put that mess togeather. It is just as you describe a 12 volt - 24 volt start with a positive ground. After trying to wire a round bale monitor on the tractor I finally figured out what was going on and got it wired correctly. Is there any advantage to this crazy system, I can see this being a real problem running negative ground equipment on it and running a danger of shorting something out. Is there an easy way to change the system to a 12 volt negative ground system with two 12 volt batteries?? I would assume you would have to change the starter and rearrange the battery cables, but is there anything else that would get messed up??
