I have seen a multitude of pickers in the fields over the years here in Cotton Country, and the 616 was probably one of the best pickers I have seen pick also. The ones we used to use where very reliable, are first one was a gas burner. Case IH's 1822's are a good two row picker also. On this farm, we have a nickname for these new John Deere pickers, (slapshots), because they pick only one side of the row. Granted, they are mechanically sound, and very reliable, but they do a terrible job picking, especially on a year like this one with knotty cotton.
