You hit on a good point, its important to check prices. I normally pay a little extra and get all my oils from my petroleum distributor. He tops my fuel tanks off every month and drops me a pail of Exxon hydraulic fluid and a case of engine oil when he does. Hydraulic fluid has been 29.99 a pail and engine oil 7.45 a gallon. I might be able to get it cheaper but thats a whole lot of convenience and service. I dont have to carry it (important since I use a cane). I normally use about 12 pails of hyd oil and 12 cases of engine oil a year so it balances out, to end up with a pretty good stock sometimes. Makes for easier tax management too, single bill each month, none of those random receipts from Sams House of Horrors.
