Aloha, I would first spin the knob clockwise a couple of times and then set it to the first number. Go thru the rest of the numbers and on the final number, go very slow and keep a little tension on the handle. As you turn the knob, it usually starts to get a little harder to turn and that is when it should open. Mahalo, doogdoog
