I changed the filter in my other car (which also gets driven regularly) when it suddenly left me stranded a few hundred miles from home. The resulting brown stains on my arms and shirt tell me that there's a lot of gunk that seems to live in the bottom of the tank. Now seems like a good time to drain out the nasty stuff. (Turned out to be the fuel pump in the Pontiac--I got it running by beating on the tank with a jack handle. That got me home.)
