Southern California got a freeze last winter that lasted three nights and it killed alot of Palms. Especially King, Mexican Fan, and anything southern in origin. Only the Mediteranian type fared okay. It got down to 20 degrees one night. I've heard of palms in Canada, but those were wrapped and bedded for winter - alot of work as they grow bigger...Google USDA PLANTS to learn more.
