Hi, I have an antique safe from 1890 with a fair amount of scratches, rust and still some good decals and lettering on it. Instead of sandblasting and repainting it, I'd like to give it a nice coat of clear gloss from a spray can. This way it can be touched, dusted and there wont be any chance of the gold lettering being removed anymore.
I've seen acrylic and urethane? enamel gloss clear coats sold at Napa, etc....From what I see there were 2 types sold that we for use over paint. This safe will be stored in the house out of heat, sun and moisture, so durability shoudlnt be an issue.
Knowing that this is OLD paint and some light rust and scratches, what is the best to use?
