We came back after being gone for the weekend and found my starter bound up against the gears. My first wire job had the starter switch wired to the batt side of the switch not the switched side. (It has been fixed) I do not have the spring detents for the neutral start switch so I did not hook it up yet. Therefore, with the neutral switch bypassed nothing prevented the starter from being turned while the key was off. Apparently my local hooligans figured this out and attempted to drive it on the starter. They made it 3 inches before it smoke checked the positive terminal. Had to pull it and clean it to get it running again. Lucky no one got hurt.
The last time they tried to climb in the window and fell off the deck onto my a/c unit. I would not have known who it was but a local kid came up with a broken collar bone that he could not explain.
