Make sure the brake isn`t stuck on. Sometimes those pedals don`t return.
I would be really careful about pull starting it if it feels like the engine is siezed.
I have a 730 gas, a couple of years ago it wouldn`t turn over. Had been fine the day before. I pulled the flywheel cover to see if I could move the flywheel by hand. I could just a little bit. I checked to make sure the starter was engaging and that I had a good charge on the battery. Dad came out and was bound and determined to pull start it, but something wasn`t right. He actually had the chain and another tractor hooked to it. I got the idea to pull the plugs and try to turn it over, BINGO. The low oil shut off on the carb had stuck open and gas had hydro locked the cylinder. So I spun her over with the plugs out for some time and blew air into the cylinder. I put the plugs in and she fired right up, after shooting flames about 10 ft in the air. I had the carb rebuilt, took care of the problem, but I bacame a believer in shutting the gas off at the tank anyway.
To make a short story long, I would`ve had big problems had we tried to pull start the old girl...
If the shift lever feels loose, like it will flop around into any gear without resistance, it could`ve popped out of the detent on the shift rail. Then you gotta line it back up with 5th gear and give it a good whack. You should feel it catch the fork and off you go. Good luck BW
