Go easy on this idea.Farmer lost his house this fall, looks like the wood boiler in an attached shed started the fire.Another problem is lime deposits that build up in supply pipes close to the fire box.If the circulator fails pressure can build.A new outside boiler went in to use near me.Its produces a lot of smoke.An extra length of stack has been added and now there is a ladder against the stack.Many towns are trying to control the use of these boilers because of smoke problems.Paid 3.05 for oil a few days ago,I get about 40% of my heat from wood.I use only poor or down trees.Most woodlots are badly overgrown.slabs from my saw mill get used in my stoves.Trees get stunted if they are growing too close.The future of oil burning looks bleak,much oil is wasted in air craft and large trucks hauling trash from Mass to a hugh landfill about 20 miles from here.Bought 2 gallons of kerosene for my lamps yesterday for 3.50 a gallon.Many people are buying furnace oil 5 gallons at a time here.Ive bought kerosene for 14 cents a gallon,paying 3.50 is hard.Must be a lot of people getting along with little heat around here.Minimum truck deliveries are 100 to 150 gallons here.My oil dealers truck broke down in late April this year and I found it was impossible to get oil from other dealers.One dealer was going to be in town on the day I called.He would only take cash and the 170.00 we had was not enough for him to stop even though he was going right by our place.I picked up a fellow who was hitch hiking with a 5 gallon can.He had a 50 gallon drum and his oil dealer could no longer fill it because of state law.He was a woodcutter and was out of work because of mud conditions in the woods.He could not afford a new tank or buy insurance on his truck.Do good laws punish poor people.
