Have been bouncing around the idea of getting a backhoe to do some minor off and on work around my own yard only. It will be used on a Ford 801 diesel. (about 45 hp) I have rented in the past but having to reserve in advance; schedule time off work; and take a chance it does not rain just before hand has been a problem. Well on a trip to town today I saw a 3 point backhoe on the side of the road. Sign says make offer but I have no idea what something like this is worth. Looks like it will need some work as most cylinders are rust pitted and some of the hoses look like they may leak. Most likely worth a few hundred as scrap but just do not know where to start at. It has a PTO pump so I assume it has on board hyd sump. The digger sticks look to be about 5 to 6' long so it should dig about 10 ft. I took a picture of the model # but it did not come out. I think it said model 11_ _. I could go look again if that makes a differance. Please give me some pointers.
