Hi Ol' Bud,
I'm really wrestlin' with myself on this.
New chains and new tubes come to $2300 .................plus all the other stuff it will need. I know darned well it will eat that $3500 I had figured on.
I've really got to chew on this awhile. If I decide to get a belter, it would have to be a John Deere 567 or one of those NH 688s.
Went over and talked to my neighbor with the 688 yesterday. He says he's not so sure that either belt baler will out-eat this old 855. However, he traded his chainer off when he ran a 6" fence post thru 'er and it peeled all the bars in about an eye-blink's time.
He was right where I'm standing now, but he puts up 300 acres too. :>(
