I have the Ruger .357, have had it since about 1979. I handload and make my own bullets out of wheel weights and 50/50 solder. I have killed numerous deer with the handgun. Best all around hunting revolver I can think of.
I was going to suggest the 30/30 or .35 remington for deer and hogs, but when you said 200 yards, I think I would switch to the .270. The .270 is a necked down .30-06. It is an old classic, but ammo is available, and it flat out does the job.
