I think I would be surprised to see them introduce tractors that large. Their market has always been the smaller tractors, and while I am seeing more of the big model Kubotas around. I think they would be hard pressed to break into the large tractor market simply because John Deere, Agco, and Case NH already have those markets pretty well covered. Their competitive edge would only be if they could provide well built, well equipped tractors for less cost since the big three iron is mighty expensive. Buhler Versatile has already tried to market the old Genesis tractors for years at less cost for the most part they are not selling in this area. The people that buy big ones are those spend a lot of time in them and they want the best of the best. The big tractors are not used by weekend warriors like the majority of Kubota's small tractor market. Something else Kubota would need to offer is GPS to get into the big tractor market.

It is definatly possible that Kubota can get into the big tractor market. They do have a well established name of quality, and they already have an extensive dealer network. Buhler Versatile bought out the Genesis line of New Holland tractors years ago and they have been trying to sell them as cheaper alternatives to the current offerings to the big three, but in this area they are complete flops. I only know of one farmer who has bought one, and I think it was only because he got such a wickid good deal on it by the dealer trying to get rid of his demo tractor.

If Kubota tries to get into the big tractor market, their product I would imagine would be direct competiton with the Buhlers with nothing but a plain old powershift and a bare minimum of electronics. Will the folks who buy new big tractors want that? My gut says only a few. Todays farmers want all the latest and greatest technology, if they didn't then they would save big money to buy a used tractor with yesterdays technology in it.

Last niht I dreamed about the day that I plowed the field of about 10 acres over on what Jimmy and Dandy called the Ledbetter field. I was driving the 1948 8N Ford tractor that Jimmy bought in 48 new This was prebably in about 1951 and maybe even befor the house was built. This would have made me to be about16 years old and I drove the tractor for nothing and would have paid to drive it if I had had any money which I didn't, but neit ... [Read Article]
