Other ares of the country things must be entirely different than here in Ohio. Here you NEVER swath either wheat or oats. No problem with oats ever getting dry enough, Had times that when not done cutting wheat would have to switch over to the oats as they were ready and would not stand the rain like wheat would. And for weeds we just sprayed them and no problem and the spray was made for use with oats underseeded with alfalfa. Several years ago a neighbor thought he would gain time by swathing his wheat to get in double crop beans, rain came he did after normal wheat cutting time did get in his double crop beans later than if he had just cut his wheat standing and in the prosses he lost ALL his wheat to the rain. The only thing ever swathed here was red clover for seed and when I convinced Dad to try direct cutting it never went back to swathing and doubled the amount of seed we got.
