FORD is introducing another "new" diesel engine. This time, it is designed and built by FORD, not IH.
As I recall, the advertising from the past has been that each new one was "improved", blah, blah, blah.
I wonder why FORD does not warrant the diesel much longer than the gas if it is so good and we know they last longer.
I had a 7.4. Ran great until around 65,000 miles. Started skipping. FORD dealer said it was the high pressure oil pump (powers the injectors). They replaced it and nothing changed. It almost shook out of the motor mounts when they cranked it.
They ended up replacing the engine since they could not find the real problem and that I was inside the 100,000 mile warranty. (And they know that I maintain my trucks very well.)
7.4 was pretty decent, 6.0 was a huge mistake.
Let's see who will "test drive" the new one coming in less than a year.
