With all due respect to your opinion, and we are all entitled to our own, your posting invites refutal. I thank you for posting this fascinating topic and respect your opinions and so will not bash the 2 cylinder Deeres as I so easily could, but will express my own belifs. The Oliver 880 will outwork any 730, 560, and competitive tractor of the pre-1960 era and do it with greater performance, versatility, comfort, and durability for the following reasons which make the 880, in my opinion, undisputable king tractor of this era. 6 cylinders are always better than 2 for reasons too numerous and established to elaborate further. Oliver had the most versatile and durable transmission of the era, including its Power-Booster drive, which was similar to but more durable than IH's torque amplifier. Oliver's hydraulic system was considerably more advanced and versatile than other systems. Oliver's cast-iron main frame is a legacy that continues to this day and has great benefits to structural rigidity and weight. Last and certainly not least, Oliver had a foot clutch! Again, with all due respect, I have a really hard time believing that anyone who has operated both the 880 and a 730, as I too have, or any other competitor of the time, would come to any other conclusion as to claim the 880 superior in nearly every imaginable aspect.
