Erick's ideas are all good, but before you tear into the carb, do this: You said that it only does this sometimes. When it does it the next time, shut it off and disconnect the fuel line going to the carb. If there isn't a nice stream coming out of the line, your problem is before the carb. and a fuel supply problem. Work backwards, towards the tank until you find what is blocking the fuel supply. I only say these things, since I had the same problem, until I found part of a rag in the tank. If you have a good supply of fuel when it is acting up, then you will need to look at the carb. - Good luck.
