Before this thread gets reported and deleted, remember one of the reasons why health care is rising exponentially. 75 years ago if you had a heart attack or cancer or any similar disease, you died and you died rather quick. So the person who died (probably at age 50 or sooner) no longer needed health care. Today, you have all kinds of surgery, medicines and procedures that prolong a person's life (well past the age of 50 or 70 or 90) and it costs more to keep the person alive. 75 years ago there was no such thing as long term care or any of the machines that are hooked up to some of these residents to keep them alive, albeit expensively. All these procedures that are common today did not exist back then. My mom used to tell me that a doctor's bill for delivering a baby was $35. Compare that to today's bill. Yes, a lot of people did die during delivery and they died sooner because of other diseases. So when somebody talks about how health insurance has gone up, (and it really has) remember there is more than one reason why. If you look at a cemetery from 75-100 years ago, there is a huge infant section because we didn't have good health care back then. Do we want to go back to that?
