Tom, where exactly is the carburetor leaking? Is it leaking at the top of the bowl? If so the bowl gasket could be bad, or the bowl could have been tightened too tight sometimes and not be allowing proper tension on the bowl to seat the gasket. Look at the bottom of the bowl- if the bottom surface is not straight across it has been overtightened sometime. Also, while you are looking at the bottom, check to see where the bottom gasket is. It should be installed on the INSIDE of the float bowl, not the outside. It is a common mistake to put the gasket on the outside like the older carburetors, but it does go on the inside.
