When I was a teenager, my enterprizing buddy bought an F-12 and a chainsaw, borrowed a logchain and trailer, and went into business cutting mine props. He had a slow thinking fellow helping him, and the poor guy was trying to crank the old tractor while Gary was sharpening the saw. Leroy (out of breath) asked, "How long you gotta crank this thing to start it?" Gary said, "Crank it 'til the radiator boils." A few minutes later, Gary noticed big Leroy whipping the crank over, and then gently feeling the radiator to see if it was hot. . . We drove the old F-12 10 miles to the high school on Tractor Day. Thought we'd make some time by kicking it out of gear on the big downhills. It would slow to a stop on even a steep hill. I know the brakes weren't dragging - they didn't work. Ah, the good old days!
