I have not been involved in a 390 to replace a 330, but I have been into swaping a 390 for a 391. One really big problem was that a 391 truck flywheel will not balance a 390, it will shake like heck. Also if you need to use the damper pulley from the FT 391, it will not fit because the 390 crank snout is much smaller. The 391 distributor will not fit in a 390 block because the distributor shaft is larger. Lots of difference between the light duty car / pickup FE engine compared to the Heavy duty truck / industrial FT engines.
