John Deere B - Featured Tractor

The John Deere B model tractor was produced in 1935, 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1952 in Waterloo, Iowa. It has a two-cylinder 149 ci engine rated at approximately 16 horsepower (earliest models)..

  • JD B Power Lift - My '39 "B" no longer lifts my implimemt quite high enough. It's a power lift, has oil, works okay but now, since yesterday, comes up just short enough to where I can't lock my impliment so to release the lift. Any ideas?
  • B fan shaft noise bearing update - The fan shaft noises were all bearing related. Luckily the geats are fine. Probably old hat to you 2 cyl gurus but A very small amount of research disovered that the bearings were very common automobile front wheel bearings back in the day. Since I am not a fan of Chinesium bearings I punched the New Departure number into EBay and returned a 100 listings and a seller with 4 old stock ND bearings, They cost me $60 delivered. Just information amd thanks for the help!
  • B fan shaft noises - Hi all, recently purchased my first 2 cyl, a 1945 B. Had rain water in the oil and broken oil pump coupling. Got all that fixed by searching posts and using the manuals I bought. Cleaned the carb and mag and got it running and it's got a good bit of noise in the fan shaft area. Im so deaf I cant tell if it's the front or back depends on which end I'm listening to. The noise is best discribed as a growl. Ive heard similar from both miss meshed gears and pitted bearing races.   • John Deere A Connecting Rod Bearings - My daughter and I are still working on the 1950 JD A and are working on the pistons and rods. I noticed there wasn't any connecting rod bearings and just used shims. Do they make connecting rod bearings or do I just used "trial and error" with the shims until I get the correct clearance and torque?
