vac marvel tx597

What is so different about a Marvel tx597 carb on my vac from others. The complete rebuild kit is expensive in relation to other kits. Was this a rare carb on the VAC? Mine is an early 51 new style. Thanks all.

To add to my question, is there a carb that will provide more power that will fit the 51 newstyle vac? If I am going to pay 70 dollars for a complete kit for the 597 i might consider upgrading.

I have a 49 VAC with the same carb, I just went and looked at the tag to check. I got a kit for mine a few years ago it wasn't near that price, although I don't remember where I got it from. I don't think it's a rare carb

They have basic kits cheap enough. It is when you want the complete kit that they are twice the price. I wonder what parts make it so different. I had put the cheaper kit in a couple years ago. I still don't think it is quite right, so was thinking of the bigger kit or a more common carb if it provided just a tad more power. I have a garden with short rows. The VAC with 2 bottom plow charges through but at the end of 100ft row it is almost stalling. SO, I don't need much more power, but a little wouldn't hurt.

Most complete kits I have seen that cost a lot had the float and idle and main jet and a few other parts. I once needed the main jet and main jet adjustment screw for some carb and just those parts where $26 and that was over 15 years ago. I got lucky and found I have what I needed on hand in my used carb parts pile
