1941 R2 Cat fuel pump

Forum,
I have a '41 R2 Caterpillar that has developed a leaky fuel pump. Not too knowledgeable about vintage fuel pumps but believe it involves a diaphragm. Does anyone have any hints of finding such a fuel pump. If I can not find a pump I may move to gravity feed. It looks possible if I have no air bound possibilities. Last question is why did they use fuel pumps and not gravity feed? Any and all thoughts are welcome.
Thanks

Believe it or not a lot of parts were available from my local Caterpillar dealer. The following web site will help you find those NLA parts :

Thanks for the replies! Will contact tomorrow.

I would assume the charge pump is there mostly because its
there on a d2 to feed the injection pump. Ill look tonight
through the microfiche at the farm. So you want a part number
for pump and gasket behind it? Anything else?

It needs a fuel pump because of the extreme angle crawlers are expected to operate at... the fuel flow to the carburetor could cease at a great enough angle ... same reason most dozers have two oil pumps.

I had a 1939 R2 that the diaphragm leaked--couldn't find a replacement so found a diaphragm the same size and replaced it--can't remember what car it was from
