I am trying to get a neighbours wheel loader running to sell it. One of the problems is that the distributor is skipping and going 180 out (The distributor has a key instead of a gear like normal) It Was running well and then I tried moving the wheel loader and then it would skip pop and backfire like crazy and any attempt to adjust timing will stall the engine. I then started the engine and tried again then it wouldnt rev well and then it died so I took off the cap with the engine at tdc cylinder 1 (Mark on the flywheel) and it was pointing at 6 so I pulled the dist and set it back to point at 1 which is 180 degrees away from 6 and had it running again it was running decently then but not as well as before I think it might have been the timing slightly off. Anyways I tried moving it again and the same thing happened It started running bad and then it stalled with the dist 180 out. When I did have it running with the dist slightly loose to time it the dist would wobble a ton but even with it tight it would still jump. The engine is an inline 6 with the dist sticking out of the head (flathead) They are basically all the same except for size. It has new sparkplugs and the carburetor has been cleaned thoroughly.
