Farmall ABC clutch mods

I like the clutch on these tractors, but was wondering has anyone found a way to add a clutch brake-like semis have?
So the transmission stops spinning a little sooner when you push the clutch all the way in.
Maybe Im in too much of a hurry sometimes-but after being used to the way a truck clutch works-hoped maybe could get a similar one for these older tractors

Any thoughts?

Use 85W 120 gl4 Gear oil in the transmission. It is thick enough to do that task. and is a cheap fix. Jim

Yup- your into much of a hurry . Chill out , relax . Ya want a socalled clutch brake then step up to the 06 and up tractors . One other way to slow gear clash is to not take it out of gear with the clutch engaged . when starting one should have the clutch down and no gear grind Should happen , if so then you have either a dragging pilot bearing problem or a disk dragging problem . When one goes to change gear you either need to be stooped first or since you can drive a TRUCK you should be able to double clutch while on the move , a tiny bit harder with a hand throttle though but can be mastered .

I was told by someone on here to put pressure above reverse where there is no gear. All you can do is try it??? Let us know if it helps!

Has anyone? I sincerely doubt it.

If everything is functioning as it should, you really should only have gear clash if you leave the tractor sit running in neutral, push the clutch, and try to shift into gear too quickly.

If you have gear clash ANY other time, you've got a problem. It should NOT clash when shifting from gear to gear with the tractor sitting still. It should NOT clash when you start the tractor with the clutch depressed, and try to shift into gear.

I've got Cubs, a Super A and a Super C all with plain jane 80W90 gear oil in them. None of them take more than a few seconds to spin down. So if it's more than that or any of the situations I've described above, it's likely that your pilot bushing is hanging on the transmission input shaft, and could stand to be replaced.

Works really well.

Yea thats the only time I ever have gear clash is when
starting from neutral. Its not that bad just takes a couple
seconds.

I was going to be pulling the tractor apart to fix some
seals-and thought Id replace the old clutch awhile.

Was also meaning to ask if anyone uses a heavier duty
clutch?

Or the stock one is enough. It is only a little over 20
horsepower. And the stock one lasted 60 years now.
